Houstonians love to dine for a cause, and with this month’s debut of Southern Smoke Spring—a new lineup of events organized by Chris Shepherd’s Southern Smoke Foundation—there’ll be plenty of opportunity to do it. The beneficiary? Southern Smoke’s Emergency Relief Fund, which provides aid to food and beverage professionals in crisis.

44 Farms is sponsoring Houston’s first citywide steak night. For two nights only, more than 20 restaurants—among them Hugo’s, Xochi, Brennan’s and Tris in The Woodlands— will create a special dish featuring steak, with proceeds from each dish benefiting the foundation. 5-10pm, locations vary
