Houston will soon have a new staycation spot when chef-restaurateur Martin Stayer and his wife, Sara, both of Nobie’s, open The Toasted Coconut this summer in Montrose. The menu inspiration casts a wide net with tastes from the 20th parallel, a circle of latitude 20 degrees north of the Earth’s equatorial plane. “It’s going to be fun playing with flavors of the Caribbean and Indonesia,” says Martin. Think island dishes like chile garlic shrimp and reverse al pastor skewers; Indonesian queso with roti and sweet curry sauce; and crispy rice salad with fish sauce. Beverage Director Sarah Troxell’s inventive concoctions and classic Tiki drinks—including a mai tai—will arrive in Instagram-ready tumblers with whimsical accouterments. Less sweet options are also available, truly suiting any palate and transcending the typical Tiki bar. Anticipate tropical decor with a colorful art deco vibe, Tiki music and even an adult sandbox near the backyard palapa. The only thing missing is the ocean. 1617 Richmond Ave.,
