Houston’s finest benefactors joined the celebration of human potential at Big Brothers Big Sister’s The Next Big Thing Gala.

THE PARTY The Royal Sonesta Galleria thumped with more than 450 guests as they celebrated Big Brothers Big Sisters’ annual gala, The Next Big Thing, chaired by Kristina and Paul Somerville and honoring the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. THE SCENE Margaret Alkek Williams, Susan and Fayez Sarofim and Scotty Arnoldy were seen mingling among tables, hosted by more than 40 “big” and “little” mentor-mentee matches. Littles starred in the mission-filled program, which featured a dance performance by Little Sister Kamri and a rap performance by Little Brother Javon. Pierce Bush delivered a speech previewing the organization’s national rebranding launch this month. THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests participated in a live and silent auction featuring a getaway to Kennebunkport, Maine, complete with a boat ride on former President H.W. Bush’s private boat, and raised more than $300,000 in total for BBBS. Sounds like a wild night in the west! -Mellanie Perez
