Marrying a mixture of traditional decor with a modernized twist, Charleston's recently opened hotel, The Loutrel, is the belle of them all.
The Veranda Lounge offers botanical-inspired cocktails made with locally sourced spirits and a Mediterranean-inspired menu.
Charleston, South Carolina, has always been synonymous with a charismatic and easygoing disposition. A longtime slogan for the state has been “smiling faces, beautiful places.” That certainly rang true when I recently paid a visit to what the locals refer to as “Chuck Town.” Checking into the newly opened hotel, The Loutrel in the historic district, I was met with the hotel’s signature cocktail and a bevy of smiling staff members. The 50-room luxury hotel—managed by Charlestowne Hotels—draws inspiration from Charleston’s storied gardens peppered throughout the culturally rich town. Helmed by Michael Graves Architecture and Design, the property mirrors the color palette of the vibrant landscape—green and blue hues with gold accents help evoke the natural light of the Lowcountry. Upon entering the chic new space, the porch-inspired lobby and bar have discerning guests immediately at ease. One of the property’s most desirable offerings is the rooftop terrace where guests can soak in the spectacular views of the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston harbor and the French Quarter neighborhood—including the celebrated steeples scattered throughout the city’s skyline. Fun fact: the city implements a mandate that no building can soar higher than the tallest steeple. Known as the “Finest Hour,” the hotel’s rooftop terrace summons with sunset cocktails, live music and other carefully curated events for guests to enjoy. The Loutrel rolls out unrivaled experiences that reflect the magnetism of the majestic city itself.
The hotel’s rooftop terrace is where guests can take in stunning views of the surrounding French Quarter neighborhood and the historic steeples that decorate Charleston’s skyline.
