1. New in River Oaks District is a stand-alone boutique from British perfumer Jo Malone London (4444 Westheimer Rd., 713.963.8450). Inside the black and cream colored shop, find the brand’s colognes and home fragrances, from classics such as Lime Basil & Mandarin to newer scents like Black Cedarwood & Juniper (3.4 fl. oz. for $125). After finding the perfect scent, don’t forget to top off the experience with a siganture hand and arm massage.
2. Also new to River Oaks District is NARS Cosmetics (4444 Westheimer Rd., 713.343.2425). The 750-square-foot mod space boasts stark white walls, and chrome and black accents. “There is a great energy in Houston, and I wanted to create a boutique where fans can experience the true spirit of NARS, where they can explore color and play with texture, dream and be inspired,” says creative director and founder François Nars. In addition to signature products and recent launches, the store features a Pro section, designed for makeup artists, and four beauty stations, where a full consultation ($85) comes with the customer’s choice of $85 worth of products.
3. At 21,000 square feet, the beauty department at the new Saks Fifth Avenue (In the Galleria, 713.627.0500) rolls in as the second-largest in the company. The department’s hall sweeps across the first floor, and includes stand-alone, brand-specific boutiques that line the main concourse. La Mer, Chanel, Aesop, La Prairie and other top-of-the-line brands have exclusive areas for consultations with brand specialists, and in the center of all the action is the store’s Champagne bar. Cheers to the beauty people!
