If you haven’t been to Bar 5015, you’ve certainly heard of it! This Houston hotspot sits in the heart of the Third Ward, making it both a favorite neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name, and a destination for revelers coming to the city for a great time. When owner Steve Rogers took over the lease, he couldn’t have imagined that the whole city would shut down just two days after he reopened on March 15th, 2020. “What saved us was our huge patio,” says a thankful Rogers. “Having outdoor space was a blessing, and we weren’t too affected despite occupancy guidelines—we thrived, and we are thankful.” The other thing that keeps patrons coming back to Bar 5015, besides the pumping music and great drinks, is Rogers and his team’s focus and attention to detail. “Above all else, when service is consistent, people have a good experience,” he says. “It starts with the valet outside, to the door guys, to the managers greeting every table, and up.” Rogers himself knows how important it is to make each person feel special, having started as a promoter in the city over 15 years ago, building up a loyal following of fun-seekers who come to Bar 5015 for the familiarity, the food, and the cocktails. Though don’t be surprised if the specialty drinks menu flies out the window on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night when the bar is so packed it’s all about speed! Even then, popular drinks include the bevy of frozen cocktails on tap, or crowd favorites like the refreshing Mr. Rogers (named after the proprietor, perhaps?), made with Maker’s Mark, ginger beer, lime and mint. Cheers to the weekend, Houston!
