Dimmitt Contemporary Art, a Houston-based fine art gallery and advisory firm dedicated to promoting the work of contemporary artists, presents BOUQUET by Sarah Ferguson. A master of experimenting with the source of light, color and perception, the Austin-based artist debuts 11 new large-scale paintings in the gallery’s second ever solo exhibition.

Before her works were included in private collections across the world, the Colorado-born artist received her BFA from St. Edward’s University and began her painting career with introspection and self-discovery in mind. Her works of art encourage viewers to navigate inwards and ponder light, beauty, nature and even the cycle of life. Today, Ferguson’s reductive aesthetic continues to be refined as she explores color systems and theories as well as the meticulous application of geometry. Color and shapes have the power to be harmonious or psychologically opposite, freeing or welcoming of a sense of control in her paintings, making Ferguson an epicurean of individual contemplation.

BOUQUET showcases Ferguson’s latest large-scale, collective arrangement of various captivating flora through harmonious, nuanced hues, geometric abstraction and subtle transitions between each work. “Life, like the flower, is delicate and ephemeral, but we can and should cherish and celebrate all its beauty and splendor,” the artist shares. Viewers will ponder the symbolic nature of the flower through her grand, hard-edged paintings just as she was inspired to paint nature in sight. Her hope: to draw viewers into a deeper, revelatory and ultimately, healed space.
