Cementing its spot as the first community-curated Native American exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery features more than 100 historical, modern and contemporary items in clay. “We are so honored to be one of the hosts for this groundbreaking exhibit on Native Pueblo pottery,” shares assistant curator Chelsea Dacus. “The exhibit focuses on human connections and links with ancestors through the pottery, which are seen as living family members. It reveals the intimate bonds with the land itself, where Pueblo peoples have lived for time immemorial.” On display from October 20 through January 12, 2025, 1001 Bissonnet St. Pueblo (Acoma), “Vase” (c. 1890–1900, clay, slip, and paints), Indian Arts Research Center, gift of Roberta Robey, 1961, IAF.2796.
