Jessicah Kolter Design transforms a childhood home in Bellaire into a modern manse rife with character and class.
The kitchen shines with Wolf & Sub-Zero appliances, KC Cabinet & More cabinetry and quartz countertops.
For many, taking over the family home can be a daunting task, but for owners Evan and Diane Weinberger, modernizing the 6,000-square-foot Bellaire home his parents built in the ‘90s was an exhilarating feat—and a fresh start for their family of five. To spearhead the project, they called upon renowned interior designer and powerhouse Jessicah Kolter, who had just recently finished designing Evan’s company space, Staying Ahead of the Game.
Designed to be Evan and Diane’s private haven, the primary bedroom features custom Wainscoting paneling, sleek gold accents and a surplus of natural light to illuminate the space.
“Creating a beautiful, low-maintenance home for their family while ensuring longevity was the top priority,” says Kolter of the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom abode. “We planned to make the layout feel intentional, like a custom-built home from the ground up.” Just as impressive as its square footage and endless amenities are the home’s exquisite interiors and preservation-minded design. “Our creativity shone through as we discovered an existing structural column while designing the new open concept layout for the first-floor living area, allowing us to showcase our talents in integrating existing elements seamlessly into the design.”
Adorned in a soft, soothing color palette, Kolter effortlessly merged elegant furnishings with already-existing pieces throughout the home for a familiar and functional aesthetic. “My design team meticulously selected options aligned with the family’s preferences while also pushing boundaries—introducing wallcoverings and incorporating varied patterns in tiles and fabrics to add depth and interest to the space.”
Take, for example, the dining room. Whimsical wallpaper lines the space, perfectly complementing the family’s bespoke dining table—a gift from Evan’s mother, custom-designed for the room. The result? A luxurious yet livable home that stays true to its roots. “Being a part of the incredible transformation with Evan and Diane was a very memorable experience, especially considering the sentimental value the home had for Evan having grown up there,” shares Kolter. “Now, with the stunning renovations, the family can create new cherished memories in their gorgeous home for many years to come.”
A mélange of porcelain countertops and flooring line the primary bedroom.
