From Italy, With Love

Much-anticipated Emmaline buzzes as H-Town's hottest new dinner spot.

AFTER MUCH ANTICIPATION, restaurateur Sam Governale’s new concept, Emmaline, has officially opened its doors on West Dallas. Local interior designer Ashley Putman has completely reimagined the space—formerly home to Teala’s Mexican Restaurant—highlighting dark hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, marble tabletops, antique lanterns and a soaring ceiling. A wall of glass and steel flanks one side of the main dining area, opening out onto a patio surrounding a 100-year-old oak tree, while a mezzanine loft and garden room with hanging plants offer semiprivate dining areas. Dimitri Voutsinas runs the kitchen, dishing out Italian-American fare like eggplant caponata; seared sea scallops with grilled zucchini, sorrel and crispy black rice; agnolotti pasta with acorn squash, pine nuts, Tuscan kale and saffron; and a seafood-filled cioppino stew with vermouth, tomato and fennel. Don’t forget to order a bottle of vino from the stunning 1,500-bottle wine room that frames the restaurant’s entrance. 3210 W. Dallas St., 713.523.3210
