You have just hit a 20-year milestone. What has been your favorite part of the journey?
We’ve had an incredible group supporting our efforts through the years. Those friendships have been so rewarding and given great times. It’s not something you think about when starting a business, but it has been a soulful experience.
Can you expand on Shindig more?
We founded Shindig in 2009 as an idea to bring fashion and lifestyle editors to our area here in Muscle Shoals, show them what we are doing, provide insight into the rich music legacy here and create a memorable hospitality and cultural moment.
How would you say your work has evolved throughout the years?
Preparing for the 20th anniversary of the brand, I had a deep dive into the archive, essentially going through every box, prototype and garment—the archive was packed with roughly 5,000 plus pieces. If anything, there’s been a consistency you can visualize. Some of the best pieces still in the collection today were designed 20 years ago!
What are you most proud of throughout your impressive career?
What our business has meant to the community around me—seeing it evolve immensely, become cooler, a destination with an incredible music story to tell.
What are you most looking forward to when visiting the Houston market?
I have always loved the people in Houston and catching up with them. My goal is to always meet people and find a way to connect with them.
What do you think of when you think of the Texas shopper?
I think that folks in Texas have a heightened appreciation of style; they love to entertain, they’re social and love to look great.
