Reopening its doors after a year-long renovation, Gremillion on Sunset dazzles with reimagined event and gallery spaces and the debut of its inaugural exhibition.
The original gallery building, which was built in 1990, showcases new lighting and sound optics
Art enthusiasts, rejoice! Rice Village’s landmark gallery and event space is anew. That’s right—after a nearly year-long face-lift , the buzzy gallery, now dubbed Gremillion on Sunset, anxiously welcomes back guests with the debut of its inaugural exhibition “Merging Worlds.” The show, which acts as the first installment of an ongoing series, will be on display until mid-November and showcases the duality of artists jugg ling careers in highpressure professions. Each piece explores the intra-connected worlds of art and healing, and, the best part yet, a portion of sales will help benefit the local nonprofit The Children’s Assessment Center.
Inside the gallery, guests can browse local artist’s work from its latest exhibition “Merging Worlds.”
Event on the second floor of the annex
First up on the expansive list of featured artists is Houston-based doctors Frank Mahzari, an internal medicine specialist affiliated with River Oaks and Memorial Hermann hospitals; emergency and population health specialist Dr. R. Joe Ybarra, a Texas pioneer in the freestanding emergency center movement; Dr. Kalif Alex Kendig, an emergency medicine physician affiliated with Houston Methodist Baytown and Oregon’s St. Charles Redmond Hospital; plus Dr. Kamran Boka, a Knoxville, Tennessee-based pulmonary and critical care physician, who formerly taught and practiced medicine in Houston.
Perfect for any party, Gremillion on Sunset is available to book for an array of events, from weddings and launches to corporate events and more
As for the Gremillion on Sunset’s innovative refresh and reno? Think stateof- the-art lighting and sound, an expansive exterior space and myriad new spaces to accompany the original gallery building (built in 1990 and designed by renowned architect Jim Lass) and the 1995 annex. Exploring all creative visions, the multi-faceted event facility is a shapeshifter, hosting various weddings, luncheons, launches and more. The Horizon—the second-floor event aspect of the complex—marvels at 1,733 square feet and sits above a vast entryway that effortlessly flows into an array of intimate gallery spaces.
Across the property, the annex sports an impressive 1,533-square-foot multi-purpose room and prep kitchen leading into the courtyard. Its second-floor perch boasts unique architectural design details and a vaulted ceiling. And finally, nestled nicely between the gallery and annex, the courtyard offers its own private oasis away from the bustling city. Set to open later this fall, the 4,250-square-foot alfresco space is home to an array of old-growth trees—thanks to the acquisition of its adjacent property.
The annex is surrounded by lush lanscaping and the vast courtyard.
And if you think the estate couldn’t be any more extravagant, guess again! Currently in the works, the reimagined artist house is slated for completion early next year. The vintage home will add a full catering kitchen, private dining and conference room and three guest rooms for visiting artists, chefs, speakers and other creatives. Booking for these spaces is now available, and the gallery is free to roam every Tuesday through Sunday. 2501 Sunset Blvd., 346.855.0920
