A Bustling family taps the talented Kara Childress to help design their dream home.
Custom dining benches w/contrast stitch fabricated by The Joseph Company flank the custom dining table featuring 150-year-old antique original face oak, also sourced from The Joseph Company.
“The ultimate goal for this project was to create a functional, comfortable home that reflected the family’s love for spending time outdoors and being together,” shared interior designer Kara Childress, who worked on this stunning single-family home. “We focused on making a handsome, durable space that could handle the energy of a growing family, including grandchildren and dogs, while being the perfect spot for casual gatherings and peaceful family weekends.” Optimal for hosting, the home stands apart with curated spaces, including the great room with reclaimed wood beams, stone accents and large-scale windows to fill the house with natural light. “We prioritized natural lighting throughout the home by using large windows that frame the surrounding landscape and bring the outdoors inside,” notes Childress. “For evenings, we complemented this with soft, ambient lighting through a mix of vintage-style fixtures and subtle recessed lighting, creating warmth and inviting spaces perfect for entertaining or winding down. The lighting, like the design, is effortless and tailored to their lifestyle.”
The kitchen spotlights luxe details, including the vent featuring an 18th-century Cheminee from a Bastide outside of Caraillon, France and reclaimed colored cement tiles used as a backsplash, both purchased at Chateau Domingue.
The powder bathroom features 17th-century Lunelle marble and an 18th-century wall trough from the stables of the large property near Ghent, Belgium, both purchased at Chateau Domingue.
The game room sets the ultimate scene with a golf simulator and chic David Yaroow artwork from Samuel Lynne Galleries.
