This summer, Bellaire-reared actor Jon Bass, 30, hits the big screen in the highly anticipated reboot of Baywatch alongside A-listers Zac Efron, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Priyanka Chopra.
Before being cast in the comedy, HITS-trained Bass made a name for himself with roles in films like the award-winning historical drama Loving; television shows such as American Horror Story: Roanoke, Girls and The Newsroom; and a six-month run on Broadway as Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon.
Of his Baywatch character, who owns some of the flick’s most comedic moments, Bass says: “He’s the ‘tech guy’ of the group. It’s 2017, and not everyone can be a superhot babe. He’s also just a total sweetheart and a nice guy. I really like him.”
When it comes to describing his experience acting alongside his co-stars—to whom he says he grew quite close during production—he slips into his natural comedic banter. “It was awful. They’re terrible human beings,” he jokes of Efron and Johnson. “You might not think it, but The Rock smells terrible. Not to mention, Zac was constantly hitting on me. It definitely made me and the girls superuncomfortable.”
