Dale Volpe and Katy Rowley launch their shopping haven Fox Holt (fox-holt.com) to savor and spark key conversations.
Fashion industry vets Volpe and Rowley are re-creating the name of the game.
I know that sustainability is an important part of Fox Holt’s mission. Can you expand a bit more here? DV/KR: The truth is that we are all in a race against the environmental clock. This is how Fox Holt is doing our part to slow that race. The designers and artisans we represent are part of the ever-growing, important slow fashion and lifestyle movement, creating pieces with ethical practices in mind. These evolving practices will change our world for the better, and we need that change right now. Our hope is to inspire people to change their shopping mindset, to invest in quality pieces that will be cherished and to look toward craftsmanship instead of mass production. We have discovered an incredible network of amazing humans who are positively impacting and changing the world. We want to grow that network. What they are creating deserves our support, space in our homes and to be worn on our bodies. We want to help create real change.
Where did the name Fox Holt come from? The short story is that it is a fun play on words of our last names... While Fox Holt’s literal meaning is ‘fox den,’ the longer story is how perfectly our last names align with our love for animals, the planet and the desire to create and maintain homes for us all.
What was the driving force behind your partnership? We are mothers and friends first; our mutual goal is to leave a better world for all of our children. We were really just looking for a way to be better, more mindful consumers. We couldn’t find a one-stop thoughtful shop for ethically produced luxury items, a place to take the guesswork out of smarter purchasing, lessen our carbon footprint and still live beautifully. From those ideas, we created a platform for mindful designers, along with artisans, to come together in one place… a community (family) of like-minded people.
What do you have coming up for the month of October? Our pop-up shop in River Oaks District from Oct. 18 to 31! This will be our first opportunity to introduce Fox Holt’s incredible roster of designers and artisans to our local friends and family. We love our new community and have quickly learned that there is an established network of conscious shoppers who are eager to explore this rapidly evolving industry. We will be hosting numerous, inspiring events with various ethical designers from the site along with partnered local artisans for some cool interactive soirees. We will have gifts, delicious local cuisine, all things sustainable fashion for the body and home. Come join us!
Any other fun collaborations on the horizon? Very excited to partner with local floral artist and designer Lisa Composto of Composto Fiori during our River Oaks District pop-up.
