Whether she’s fighting fires on Tacoma FD or rolling through Dutton Ranch to pay Kevin Costner a visit, Hassie Harrison is a force to be reckoned with. With her career on fire, this Texas native has two hot shows on the air, two films in the works, and she’s just getting started.
What inspires you?
I am a music enthusiast through and through. I feel like it says so much about a person. I’ve always loved vintage music, whether it be ’80s country or jazz—the blues go straight to my soul! There’s so much to choose from these days that I think it’s important to look at where it all started and pay hommage to that.
Do you use music when approaching your work?
One hundred percent yes. I always make a playlist for each role I play. I find music to be a direct line to my physical and emotional being. It is a beautiful element that I add in to inspire and create my character.
Any other unique methods?
I select different perfumes to wear for each of my characters. I’m a very sensitive person and find that adding the subtlest of details help to take care of them.
Do you prefer TV or film?
Such incredibly talented writers have moved toward television. Taylor Sheridan (co-creator of Yellowstone) is sharing powerful storytelling about the great American West. There is such a large appetite for these types of stories. But I must admit there is something that is just so special about movies. You get to live with those characters for a more fixed period of time. I have a lot of space in my heart for both.
Do you have a dream co-star? Sky’s the limit.
