Houston natives—and brother-sister duo—Patrick and Maidie Ryan are earning major style points with their elevated loungewear brand, Camp Aspen. Here, Maidie gives us a behind-the-seams look at the Colorado-based, Texas-bred business—and shares her ultimate gift guide for the wanderer in your life.
Talk to us about the inspiration behind Camp Aspen.
Aspen is a place of inspiration and aspiration. A place where scenic majesty is bookended by frozen winter wonderlands and sun-dappled summers; townie charms easily intersect with fabulous global wealth; mountain purity meets playful debauchery; and adventure junkies hobnob with luxury connoisseurs. But the place with almost everything was, until recently, missing one special something: a premium and playful lifestyle brand to celebrate the destination year-round. Hence Camp Aspen (campaspen.com) elevated loungewear, designed to embody the spirit of this timelessly cool Colorado destination while playing into the whimsical nostalgia of sleepaway camps so deeply rooted within a sizable Texan contingent that has now made Aspen its home away from home.
How would you describe the brand’s overall style? What are some of your favorite products for winter?
Camp Aspen’s elevated loungewear is perfect for being comfortable while looking stylish during travel, easily transitioning from the plane landing at ASE to the Mountain Social Bar at the St. Regis. Our loungewear is what you wear to enjoy the sweetness of doing nothing in a place where you can do almost anything.
We are currently obsessed with the women’s sherpa vest. It’s a great layering piece for both Texas and Colorado. The contrast raglan crewneck and sweatshorts are one of our best sellers, and we are excited about the new colorways dropping in 2025.
How can Houstonians get their hands on the products?
Camp Aspen is always available online, and we manage our inventory locally, so orders arrive quickly. We also “pop up” at local events, like the Houston Astros Foundation’s Champions for Healthy Families Luncheon and Fashion Show and Houston Tidbits Twinkle market. Camp Aspen’s Instagram keeps our followers up to date on in-person shopping opportunities and other camp news.
You and your brother have always prioritized giving back to the community. What Houston organizations have you championed over the years?
Bo’s Place, Dress for Success Houston and The Junior League of Houston, Inc. are three nonprofits close to our hearts. We are always open to learning about opportunities to support the Houston and Aspen communities.
The holiday season is here! Do you have any go-to gift recommendations?
Camp Aspen’s cashmere polo and pants will be beloved by any recipient. Together, they make an easy and perfectly polished travel set. Separately, each piece shines as well. Pair the cashmere polo with your favorite jeans and boots for pizza at Acquolina with your besties. A chambray shirt and vest top off the cashmere pants for a mid-afternoon “musthave” muffin at Paradise Bakery.
We are also loving the Yves Delorme Paris luxury linens available at The Longoria Collection in Uptown Park (uptownparkhouston.com). Made in France with organic cotton, no gift receipt is needed—the only place the recipient will be returning is to bed!
Aspen Vodka (theaspenvodka.com) is a clear winner for the martini aficionado. Crafted with water from the Roaring Fork River and exclusive Colorado Red Winter Wheat, Aspen Vodka elevates any cocktail in Aspen—or anywhere.
A Richard Mille watch (richardmille.com) is the “go big or go home” holiday gift. With a breathtakingly beautiful timepiece, your cherished one will join the Richard Mille fan club, which includes Bubba Watson, Pharrell Williams, and Rafael Nadal—to name a few.
Flamingo Estate’s (flamingoestate.com) Mount Taranaki Pure Manuka Honey. Everyone on your gift list needs a jar of this $98 honey. Perfect accouterment for your charcuterie board. Delicious atop a warm bowl of pumpkin spice oatmeal. Divine drizzled on a banana with peanut butter. The options are endless, but Flamingo Estate’s supply is limited!
