Explore unique wineries in and around the city to learn the ins and outs of winemaking and sourcing from the region’s passionate experts. Head to this Houston winery for indoor and outside seating, themed events, stellar on-site pizza and a lineup of wines crafted from vineyards around the United States, there’s a lot to love at Decant Urban Winery. The luxe, woman-owned winery sustainably sources its grapes from organic farms, but never mixes grapes from different regions to ensure the wines stay authentic to their vineyard. Located just over 30 miles outside of Houston, this expansive family-owned winery has cellar tours, wine tastings, a full brunch and lunch menu, live music, and a calendar filled with themed events. The award-winning winery prides itself on being one of the first US wineries to take advantage of the blanc du bois hybrid grape variety. To learn the ins and outs of winemaking, pay a visit to Nice Wines. The award-winning, education-first winery prides itself on making organic wines with no added sugars or sulfites. Guided wine classes give guests an intimate experience of learning about wines while enjoying curated wine and food pairings from the winery’s on-site chef. Tickets are required for wine classes. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

Explore a variety of wines made from grapes grown in the mountains of Napa, right here in Houston. Known as Houston’s first Black-owned winery and tasting room, the space opened just over a year ago, in November of 2021. Gather your crew and head in for a variety of guided, themed tastings and learn more about the wine range. Reservations are required and can be made here. Closed on Mondays.
2600 Travis Street, Suite 104 / Website
This unique family-owned winery crafts wine from grapes sourced from around the world. With such a large variety of grapes, the winery makes over 50 different kinds of wine, including merlot, cabernet, chardonnay, barolo, gewurztraminer, and ports, among others. There’s a tasty bistro that serves a menu of dishes complementary to the wines. Also at the winery, guests can blend their own personal vintage bottle of wine and create a custom label for it. Experience Texas’ beauty and charm at this 20-acre estate and vineyard, set atop sprawling hills and valleys. A classic wine tasting, including your choice of five wines, starts at $20 for 45 minutes.

AWI Winery sources their wine from a private vineyard in Argentina’s Uco Valley, just 100 kilometers south of the city of Mendoza. Led by expert agronomists and winemakers, this vineyard primarily produces three red varietals—Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
