After almost two years of a subdued clothing palette, Amir Taghi is ready to reemerge out of the pandemic with bold colors, rich textiles, and innovative silhouettes.

You may recognize Amir Taghi, Houston’s fashion wonder kid, who began his fashion career at 15, working with fashion icons like Oscar de la Renta before attending both Central Saint Martins and graduating from Parsons, then launching his eponymous label in 2018 in New York City.

This September, he is set to launch his Fall Winter 2021 collection which took inspiration from his childhood memories at home in Houston and while visiting family in Tehran, Iran. “As a child born in Texas, I vividly remember square dancing on go Texan Day and picking out my favorite boots for the Houston Rodeo,” says Taghi. After almost two years of dressing for our computer screens Amir says that he wants, “to mix my youth with a much needed sense of optimism and fantasy into clothes that reflect the current times”. For FW21, he began with the idea of a western shirt twisting it with piping inspired by the architecture of a family relic, the Burujerdi House in Kashan, Iran. The contrast between his ancestry and the classic Western detail continued into all aspects of tailoring. This season’s print, a collage of multi-color iris, takes cues from a rug woven in the 1800’s in Tabriz, Iran, “signifying hope,” Amir says. Optimism is expressed through bright shades of tangerine, lilac, pistachio and Kelly green.

This season Taghi also began a collaboration with Texas based boot maker, Hondo Boots, known for durable, all leather boots with a tradition of quality. “I have always wanted to dress a women from head-to-toe and this is my first opportunity to do so” says Taghi. When he began conceptualizing this collection of boots he wanted to create a core selection of colors that would be a staple in any women’s closet. He says, “every boot is made personally for each client continuing my love for exclusivity and personalization.”
