On Friday evening, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) hosted the 32nd Annual Concert of Arias, the final round of the Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers. The highly esteemed competition is held annually to identify candidates for HGO’s internationally acclaimed young artist training program, the HGO Studio. The event raised over $660,000 to benefit HGO Studio’s ongoing outreach efforts to attract and nurture young artists who have the potential for major careers in opera.
Chaired by Laura and Brad McWilliams, winners of the competition were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges including HGO Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers, HGO Managing Director Perryn Leech, HGO Artistic Advisor Ana María Martínez, and special guest judge Tamara Wilson.
