Robin Barr Sussman | May 23, 2017 | Feature Features

Whether you want a nosh with your cocktail or a cocktail with your nosh, these H-town gathering spots have it covered for the thirsty after-work crowd. Bottom's up!
New cocktails at Etoile

Pull up a chair at the striking bar or in the charming climate-controlled patio at Brasserie du Parc (1440 Lamar St., 832.879.2802). Kimberly Paul’s beautiful new seasonal cocktails include the Nouvelle Vague with gin, lime and St. Germaine or one of the punch bowls to share like Sloe Ginger along with happy hour fare. At sister location Etoile (1101-11 Uptown Park Blvd., 832.668.5808), sip on Paul’s new Madame le Strange cocktail with The Botanist gin, green chartreuse and house-made grapefruit shrub.

Grab gently priced exotic bites like spinach-feta stuffed naan and a trio of house made chutneys ($5-$9) at Kiran’s (2925 Richmond Ave., 713.960.8472) Monday-Friday, 4PM-7PM. To drink, try the sinfully good cocktails including a Lemon Basil Gimlet ($10-$14).

Liberty Kitchen at The Treehouse (936 Bunker Hill Rd., 713.468.3745) has sprouted a new menu with citrus-forward cocktails like Sunset Punch with Bombay Saphire East, rose, cucumbers and raspberries ($6). These along with bar bites including oysters and tacos are available for a steal from 3PM-6PM Monday-Friday and Sundays from 5PM-9PM. Grab a seat on the breezy terrace while the weather is still bearable.

Royal Sonesta’s Axis Lounge (2222 West Loop South, 713.627.7600) is dishing out big bites on the new menu designed by chef Robert Graham. Tuck into loaded nachos (these sport mac and cheese!), charred shishito peppers, quesadillas, tuna tartare, and grilled ciabatta toasts ($12-$17).

The opening of Upstairs Bar at Hungry’s (2356 Rice Blvd., 713.523.8652) brings a brand new happy hour Monday-Friday, 4PM-7PM. Catch a prime view of the oak trees on the patio and nosh on wood fired pizzas and light bar bites. Handcrafted cocktails include the festive Grapefruit Spritz, FrozĂ© and more.
