The 50 finest things hitting the Houston food and drink scene
Rainbow Lodge

Rainbow Lodge
Last year, Rainbow Lodge celebrated its 40th anniversary serving elevated American fare with a special emphasis on game such as venison, elk and rabbit. Equal parts rustic and elegant, the restaurant feels like a royal hunting retreat. Dark wood floors and beamed ceilings frame three large stone fireplaces, while wrought-iron chandeliers hang from the rafters. Candles flicker on the tables, while outside the windows, more than an acre of gardens and lush grounds back up onto White Oak Bayou. 2011 Ella Blvd., 713.861.8666

Tiny Boxwoods
Located in Thompson + Hanson nursery, few places draw the ladies who lunch more than the original Tiny Boxwoods in River Oaks. Perch inside or out on the flagstone terrace, and enjoy migas, avocado toast or a croissant for breakfast, or come for one of the great pizzas or salads at lunch. The only requirement: You must order a chocolate chip cookie. They’re legendary and have even earned their own concept, Tinys Milk and Cookies, located just outside the West U location. 3614 W. Alabama St., 713.622.4224
